Leadership – The Art of Correction not Perfection

In current world a particular leader is assigned to so many teams at a particular time. If the leader has to resolve conflicts, manage changes, troubleshoot, and handle crisis situations for each of his Teams. This is too much to ask for an individual leaders.

Fostering a Culture of Sharing –

  • Promote discussion between Team Leads working on different assignments.
    • This helps them to share their current challenges, positive outcomes, and lessons learned .It can improve collaboration and trust.
    • Team Leads can solve their current challenges by working with each other without leadership interventions.
    • Focus should be on conversation and open communication.
  • Promote psychological safety: Make sure Team/Team Leads feel comfortable sharing their challenges/issues.

Encourage Open communication.

  • Helps issues come upfront before they become a major crisis. Leadership not to intervene as it will help issue to resolve before it converted into crisis.
  • Leaders need to actively listen and show empathy. This is especially important when the team shares information that they not like.

Shared responsibilities without thinking about Individual Roles

  • Recognize and appreciate: Show appreciation for people’s contributions. Celebrate Shared Success: Acknowledge team achievements. This reinforces the value of collective effort.
  • Use feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve.
  • While giving feedback, the goal isn’t to place blame. Instead, it is to find areas for improvement. Offer the support needed to make those improvements.
  • Everyone makes a unique contribution. Though different, each contribution is valuable. Everyone is part of the team. Thus, they are valuable.
  • Individual roles and hierarchy do not make someone better, more important, or more unique than others. Roles are temporary.
  • Encouraging a culture where team accomplishments are celebrated over individual triumphs.

It is the shared team goals that matter.

Speak your truth but do it in a way that respects every Team members

Summary : If the above Norm’s are integrated into the Individual Team members, it will create a sense of trust. It will also foster mutual respect and positive reinforcement.
